Participation Overview

Employers must read and adhere to these terms and conditions to participate in Advance Ontario’s private university cohort(s). Riipen reserves the right to remove or suspend participants for violations.


1. Eligibility Requirements

To participate in Advance Ontario, I confirm that:

  • I represent a for-profit or not-for-profit corporation, municipality, hospital, or foundation.

  • My organisation is located in Ontario, Canada, and is a registered Canadian business.

  • I am not a representative of a publicly funded post-secondary institution.

  • My organisation and I will not claim any payment from students or receive any portion of the student stipend.

  • I will not create multiple active accounts or participate using more than two companies, each of which must undergo ID verification.

  • I will not collaborate with family members or employees on Advance Ontario projects.


2. Project Timeline & Cohort Dates

  • Projects begin by March 3rd, 2025

  • Projects must be completed within the cohort’s 8-week period, with a minimum of 2 weeks.

  • Students will complete a total of 60 hours of work, with a maximum of 30 hours per week and no more than 10 hours per day.

  • All projects must be finished by the cohort’s end date (April 25, 2025), or students will be ineligible for payment.

  • There are no exceptions to these timelines.


3. Project Requirements

  • Each company may participate in multiple cohorts but is limited to one project per cohort and a maximum of four students per project.

  • As a condition of participation in a cohort, I understand that if I receive student applications, I am required to accept at least one student.

  • I will clearly define the project scope and ensure it requires no more than 60 hours of work per student.

  • No fees will be charged to students, including training or application licences.

  • I agree to be available for discussions with the Advance Ontario coordinator to confirm project appropriateness.

  • Students must be accepted on the Riipen platform before starting a project. No retroactive recording of students or projects is allowed.

  • I will provide a minimum of 5 hours of mentorship per student, including regular check-ins.

  • Upon project completion, I will submit feedback confirming the student's work and hours. If the work is incomplete, I will notify Riipen by submitting a Dispute Resolution ticket through the Avocado support feature in the bottom right corner of the Riipen website.


4. Student Payment Eligibility

  • Payment is only available to students registered on the Riipen platform under Advance Ontario.

  • Students are considered workers of Riipen Networks Inc., with Riipen ensuring compliance with Ontario’s Work Safe requirements.

  • Riipen reserves the right to determine student eligibility for payment. Only projects meeting all terms will qualify.


5. Respectful Behaviour Agreement

I agree to:

  • Conduct myself with respect and professionalism at all times. This includes refraining from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, and abusive behaviour.

  • Understand that any violation of this agreement may result in immediate removal, suspension, or termination without notice.

  • Accept that Riipen’s determination of disrespectful conduct is final and binding.

  • Be solely responsible for my behaviour while using this service.


6. Changes to Terms

These terms and conditions may be updated at any time without prior notice.
