Participation Overview
Students must read and adhere to these agreements to participate in a Western Governors University School of Business experience.
Project Timeline & Cohort Dates
Projects must be completed within the allotted time period and must meet the required 40 total hours set by my institution.
Projects run for 5 weeks, with a grace period of up to 1 additional week if needed. All required work must be completed within this timeframe.
Project Requirements
To be eligible for payment, certification of completion, and a digital badge, I understand that I must:
Project Enrolment & Onboarding
Be officially registered and matched to the project on the Riipen platform before the project start date.
Complete all required onboarding steps, including but not limited to:
Accepting the invitation to join the project on Riipen.
Creating and fully setting up my Riipen account.
Completing any required pre-surveys.
Clicking the “Start Project” button on my team page.
Sending a welcome message to the employer that introduces myself and highlights my relevant skills.
Participation & Communication
Maintain open, professional, and timely communication with the project employer throughout the project term using Riipen’s chat feature.
Actively participate in all required meetings, check-ins, and project activities.
Work Completion & Documentation
Complete a total of 40 hours of project work within the approved experience timeline.
Accurately log all 40 hours of work on the Riipen platform.
Submit all required deliverables through the Riipen platform, including:
Final project deliverables.
A brief written reflection on my project experience.
Complete and submit all required check-ins, milestones, and surveys on the team page, including the project exit survey.
Completion Standards & Eligibility
Failure to complete any required milestone (including starting the project, logging work hours, submitting deliverables, or completing surveys) within 5 days of the due date will result in the team being marked as “Incomplete.”
Once marked as Incomplete, the team will no longer be eligible to continue with the project.
Failure to complete the project in full may result in disqualification from participation in future projects through this program.
Payment Requirements
Upon successful completion of the project, you will receive an $800 stipend. Riipen partners with Stripe to securely process stipend payments. To receive your payment, you must create and fully set up a Stripe account in accordance with Stripe’s guidelines. Incomplete or incorrect payment details may result in payment delays. Stipend Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the stipend, you must complete all of the following within the Riipen platform:
Enter and verify your payment details
Log 40 working hours on your project over a minimum of 4 weeks
Complete the required surveys and milestones in your project portal
Submit your final project deliverable
Receive employer feedback confirming project completion
Note: If employer feedback is not provided within two weeks of project completion, the Riipen and WGU teams will review your submission to determine payment eligibility.
Payment Timeline
Riipen operates on a 21-day payout period for learners completing employer projects. Once your project completion is confirmed, your stipend will be released within 21 days.
Project Assignment Policy
Project switching is not permitted once matched.
Projects are carefully selected in interdisciplinary business fields to align with my field of study.
Respectful Behaviour Agreement
I agree to:
Conduct myself with respect and professionalism at all times.
Refrain from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or abusive behaviour.
Adhere to WGU’s Code of Conduct.
Understand that violations of the Student Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action by the Student Conduct Board.
Understand that violations may lead to immediate removal, suspension, or termination without notice.
Accept Riipen’s decision as final regarding the termination of my participation due to a violation of this agreement.
Accept full responsibility for my conduct while using this platform.
