All participants of the ICT Ignite Cyber program (employers and learners) must read and abide by the terms and conditions listed below. Both learners and employers will agree to these conditions on joining the ICT Ignite Cyber program on the Riipen platform.
Employer/Company Requirements
Eligibility
I attest that I am either a not-for-profit employer, public sector employer, or private sector employer.
I attest that I am located in Canada.
I attest that I am a registered Canadian business with a valid registered business number.
I attest that I am not a member of the House of Commons or the Senate,
an organization that engages in partisan political activities, and/or federal, provincial, territorial and municipal government.I attest that I am not a representative of a publicly funded post-secondary institution.
I understand and attest that neither the company nor I can charge learners any form of payment to participate in the project and cannot directly profit from learner participation.
I understand that as an employer, neither the company nor I are entitled to claim any payment from learners or to receive any monies paid to the learner in the form of a stipend.
I acknowledge that any personal Information (information disclosed which can identify an individual within the meaning of section 3 of the Privacy Act, R.S.C. 1985, and c. P 21 (“Privacy Act”)) collected during the program is protected by the provisions of the Privacy Act as the Privacy Act applies to the Receiving Party (Lighthouse Labs/Upskill Canada) and by the provisions of relevant federal and provincial privacy legislation as may apply to the Partner (“Partner Privacy Laws”). Any personal information disclosed in this program will be collected, used, stored, accessed, and disposed of in compliance with Partner Privacy Laws.
Project Requirements
I understand that I must define the project scope up front to the best of my abilities, limiting scope changes once learners are approved for the project.
I understand that I must be available for a discussion with the ICT Ignite team to initiate the relationship and confirm that the project scope is an appropriate fit for the internship.
I understand that the learner(s) must be confirmed and added to the project before the start date. Projects completed/tracked off platform will not qualify for the $1400 stipend.
I understand that the project timelines must be accurate before the project start date. If the project end date must change, the employer must notify the ICT Ignite team a minimum of 5 business days prior to the end date currently recorded in the platform. ICT Ignite Cyber projects must be completed within 4 weeks.
Upon completion of the project, I will confirm with the ICT Ignite team that the learner has completed 60 hours of work within 2-4 weeks, by providing comprehensive feedback on the platform.
I understand that I must provide a project that requires no more than 60 hours of work per participating learner. If more than 60 hours of work is required, the learner will not be able to complete the project under this program.
I understand that as the employer, I must make a good faith effort to ensure that the number of learners assigned per project still allows each participant 60 hours of experience.
I understand that I must complete the ICT Ignite Cyber program exit survey and approve project deliverables submitted by learner(s) at the conclusion of the project. If I hire a learner at the completion of the project, I may be invited to complete a follow up survey about my experiences with ICT Ignite Cyber. I acknowledge that participation in this program requires a commitment to completing these surveys and failure to do so may result in my inability to post new projects.
I understand that I must provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to the learner(s) that are working on my project(s). I must be responsive to any questions, and check in on progress to help ensure a good result. We require that learners receive at least 5 hours of mentorship throughout the project.
I understand that I must acknowledge that the stipend can only be granted to eligible learners, and that all participating learners must come through the Riipen platform under the ICT Ignite Cyber program, and cannot be invited directly by the employer.
Learners engaged in ICT Ignite Cyber projects are considered workers of Riipen Networks Inc. and as such Riipen meets all Work Safe requirements legislated by their respective province/territory.
I acknowledge I must provide learners with all relevant information concerning health and safety standards and regulations with regards to their work environment to include any and all required safety equipment to complete their work. This must be completed within the first week of the project.
I understand that as part of the ICT Ignite Cyber initiative, Lighthouse Labs would like to have the opportunity to check in with me periodically to ask some follow-up questions and to provide information about future opportunities. I consent to this.
Learner Requirements
Eligibility
I attest that I am a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. I am also legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial and federal legislation and regulations, throughout the entire duration of the project period.
I attest that I am currently residing in Canada.
I attest that I am 18 years of age or above and with a high school diploma.
I attest I am a currently registered participant of Lighthouse Labs Cybersecurity bootcamp through the Upskill Canada project.
I attest that I am not an International Student, on a work permit, co-op permit, or student visa.
I attest that I did not immigrate to Canada through the CUAET program.
I understand that I should not be a current or past employee of the employer company (including consulting, contract or part-time positions, etc.).
I affirm that I do not have conflict of interest with the employer company, including, but not limited to, companies where myself or my relatives have control as a major creditor, shareholder or governing board member.
I understand that in order to receive the $1400 honorarium for the project I must meet the eligibility requirements described on this page, and I must submit my final deliverable to the employer through the Riipen platform.
I am aware that any misrepresentation of my identity or eligibility will lead to suspension from the platform, and I will not receive compensation for either completed projects or those currently in progress.

Employment Status
I acknowledge and agree that I am not, and will not become by participating in this program, an employee of Riipen Networks Inc. or the affiliated project partner company.
I understand that I am solely responsible for reporting any income that I earn through this program in accordance with applicable laws, including Canada’s Income Tax Act.
Project requirements
I understand that I must complete 60 hours of work within 2-4 weeks to qualify for the stipend. Those 60 hours must be spent in a good faith effort to complete the project as defined by the employer. Working above 60 hours is not recommended or required, and will not be compensated. Partial payments are not offered.
I understand that I must not exceed 10 hours of project work every day.
I understand that I must communicate with the employer before and during the project to fully understand the project scope and ensure work is on track.
(Recommendation: respond to all communication within 72 hours.)I acknowledge that I am required to upload my final project deliverables to the employer via the Riipen platform at project submission. For more details on the deliverables required to receive payment, see our FAQs.
I understand that I must provide my final submission prior to the project end date. If the employer and myself collectively agree to change the end date, I will notify the ICT Ignite team (ictignite@riipen.com) a minimum of 5 business days prior to the end date currently recorded on the platform. ICT Ignite Cyber projects must be completed within 4 weeks.
I understand that payment will not be made until I have completed the exit survey and the ICT Ignite team has evaluated the project submission, with input from the employer. A project that is not completed will not be eligible for the stipend. Payment processing is not immediate. Riipen operates a 21 day payout period for learners completing ICT Ignite Cyber projects. A stipend will begin to be processed when the employer provides feedback on a project submission and the learner exit survey has been received.
I understand that after the completion of the employer project, I may be invited to complete a follow up survey about my experiences with ICT Ignite Cyber and my employment journey after the program. I acknowledge that participation in this program requires a commitment to completing these follow-up surveys.
I understand that only projects that are approved by the ICT Ignite team and accessed through the Riipen platform are eligible for the stipend
I understand that I must be confirmed and added to the project before the start date and must track projects through the platform from start to finish. Projects completed/tracked off platform will not qualify for the $1400 stipend.
I understand that I must only start one ICT Ignite Cyber project and will only be paid for that one project once completed and in accordance with the statements above.
I acknowledge that if a stipend payment is paid which I was not entitled to, such funds may need to be reimbursed by myself. This includes but is not limited to situations such as: i. the amount of any payments made to me in error; ii. the amount of any payments made in excess of the amount actually owed to me; iii. the amount of any payments that were made, for which I was not eligible for to receive.
I understand that as part of the ICT Ignite Cyber initiative, Lighthouse Labs would like to have the opportunity to check in with me periodically to ask some follow-up questions and to provide information about future opportunities. I consent to this.
