This article applies specifically to U.S. persons as defined by the United States Internal Revenue Services (IRS).

Form 1099 is used to report payment made to U.S. taxpayers to the IRS. If a Form 1099 is required for you, it will be issued and delivered by our payment processor, Stripe Inc. You will also receive a copy, which may help you document your yearly income as you prepare your taxes or complete other business.

General

Qualification

Form 1099-K will only be issued to learners who are U.S. taxpayers and receive at least US$5,000 in gross payments during the calendar year, in accordance with IRS reporting thresholds under Internal Revenue Code Section 6050W.

Where required by law, applicable Forms 1099 will be filed with the IRS and issued to you by Stripe Inc.

If you do not meet the minimum payment threshold, you will not receive any type of Form 1099. However, you are still required to report your income.

Timing

You will receive your Form 1099 by January 31.
