Level UP: February 2025 Cohort Terms & Conditions for Students

Students must read and adhere to these terms and conditions to participate in Level UP. Riipen reserves the right to remove or suspend participants for violations.

1. Eligibility Requirements

To participate, I confirm that:

  • I am currently registered as a student at an eligible Canadian Post-Secondary Education (PSE) institution or approved eligible institution and will continue to maintain this status through participation in Level UP projects.

  • I am currently enrolled in at least one course this semester or will be in the next semester.

  • I hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee protection, and am legally authorised to work in Canada.

  • I am not an International student.

  • I will not create multiple active accounts, as this will result in program removal and loss of payment.

  • I will stay active in the program and understand that inactivity may lead to my removal.

  • I will only complete 1 project and participate in 1 Level UP cohort during the period of February - April 2025.

2. Employment Status

I acknowledge that:

  • I am not an employee of Riipen Networks Inc. or the company facilitating my project.

  • I am not a current or former employee of the project company.

  • I have no conflict of interest with the project partner company (e.g., no relatives as major shareholders or board members).

  • I am not eligible for Employment Insurance at the end of the project or in the event of cancellation.

  • I am responsible for reporting any income earned under this program according to Canadian tax laws.

3. Project Timeline & Cohort Dates

  • Projects must align with following cohort schedule:

    • January 13, 2025:
      Students Invited to Confirm Eligibility and Submit an Application
      Selected students are invited to confirm their eligibility by completing their application. Visit our application process help article for more details.

    • January 15, 2025:
      Cohort open for Employer Projects
      Employers are invited to request to match their projects to the February - March 2025 Cohort. Visit Getting Started with Level UP: Employers for more details.

    • February 12, 2025
      Last Day for Employers to Request a Project Match
      Employers must submit their requests for student matches by this date to participate in the final project matching period. This includes signing the program agreements and confirming the match to the experience.

    • February 12 - 14:
      Final Employer Project Matching Period
      During this period, employers will finalize their project details if needed, based on the Level UP team’s proposed changes.

    • February 17, 2025:
      Students Invited
      Students who are successful in the application process will receive their official invitations to join the cohort.

    • February 17 - 21, 2025:
      Student Project Application Period
      Students will apply to projects during this window. You can apply to up to 3 projects. The first employer to accept your application is the project that you will work on. There are no opportunities to change projects once you are added to a project.

    • February 27, 2025:
      Project Start Date
      Projects officially begin. Students and employers should start their collaboration from this date, and students must complete the onboarding survey and hit “Start Project” in the platform in order to confirm the project's participation in the cohort.

    • March 31, 2025:
      Project Completion
      All projects must be completed by this date. Visit 4. Guide to Completing an Level UP Project for more details.

    • April 1, 2025:
      Exit Survey & Feedback
      Once projects are submitted, both employers and students need to complete the exit survey and provide feedback for one another on the platform. A reminder that student payment will be withheld up to 5 weeks or until the survey is completed & employers have provided their feedback.

    • April 1 - May 30, 2025:
      Payment Period
      After the project completion, the payment process will begin for eligible students. Visit Payments for more details.

4. Project Requirements

To receive the $1,400 stipend, I must:

  • Complete 60 hours of work within the allocated timeframe and track my hours using Riipen’s work log feature.

  • Submit all required deliverables through the Riipen platform, including the final project submission, work hours, and a brief reflection on my experience.

  • Complete and submit the project exit survey.

  • Not exceed 10 hours of project work per day or 30 hours per week.

  • Understand that working more than 60 hours will not be compensated, and partial payments are not available.

  • Payment for this cohort will be issued before May 30, 2025.

  • Only projects approved by Riipen and managed through the Riipen platform are eligible for payment.

  • Once matched to a team, this is final. No changes or accommodations will be made.

  • Ensure I am officially registered and matched to the project on the Riipen platform and press “start project” on or before the start date.

  • Provide any additional requested information within 30 days, or my project will be deemed incomplete and ineligible for payment.

5. Misrepresentation and Compensation Suspension Notice

  • I acknowledge that any misrepresentation of my identity or eligibility will result in immediate suspension from the platform and forfeiture of compensation for completed or in-progress projects.

  • If I receive a stipend payment I’m not entitled to, I understand I must reimburse the platform in full. This includes any overpayments or errors in calculation.

  • I further recognize that violation of these terms may result in legal action by Riipen.

6. Respectful Behaviour Agreement

I agree to:

  • Conduct myself with respect and professionalism at all times.

  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or abusive behaviour.

  • Understand that violations may lead to immediate removal, suspension, or termination without notice.

  • Accept Riipen’s decision as final regarding the termination of my participation due to a violation of this agreement.

  • Be solely responsible for my actions while using the service.

7. Changes to Terms

These terms and conditions may be updated at any time without prior notice.
