What is the Great Jobs KC Program?
Great Jobs KC provides entry-level job seekers the opportunity to gain hands-on project experience in project management, data analytics, or digital marketing. Participants complete real-world employer projects remotely over 4–6 weeks in a team-based setting to build their skills and portfolios.
Why is Great Jobs KC important for learners?
It allows you to apply your skills in a real-world environment, build a professional portfolio, strengthen your resume, and gain valuable experience working with an employer on a meaningful project.
How do I join Great Jobs KC?
You must be nominated by the Great Jobs KC program team to participate. If selected, you’ll receive an invitation to join the Riipen portal and access your assigned project.
How many projects can I complete and how long are the projects?
You will complete one project. Each project is designed to be approximately 40 hours in total and should be completed within 4weeks.
What if my project timeline needs to change?
Small adjustments can be made if both your team and the employer agree, and the project still finishes within the cohort window.
What other support is available during the program?
You’ll receive onboarding materials and ongoing support from the Riipen team for any platform or project-related questions.
What should I upload as my final submission?
Final submissions may include deliverables such as:
Project frameworks
Digital marketing briefs
Data analysis reports
Summaries of completed work
You must upload your work to the Riipen platform by the project deadline.
Can employers reject project submissions?
Employers will review your submission and provide feedback. Maintaining open communication throughout the project is critical to ensure your final deliverables meet expectations.
The Great Jobs KC team will also review your final deliverables. If our team is unable to ascertain that a good faith effort has been made to complete the project as defined by the employer we will have to follow up with you and the employer. If 14 days have elapsed and the employer has not provided feedback, please reach out to the Great Jobs KC team. We will contact your employer again and if we do not hear back we will review your final deliverable on behalf of the employer.
Will I get paid?
No. Great Jobs KC projects do not include a stipend or honorarium. These experiences are designed to help you build your professional experience.
What happens if I can not complete the project?
It’s important to communicate immediately with your team, the employer, and the Riipen support team if any issues arise. Full project completion is expected; incomplete projects may affect future program participation.
What if my team member is unresponsive/ MIA?
If you’re struggling to get in contact with a member of your team, be sure to let the employer know straight away. You should also let the Great Jobs KC team know via email (greatjobskc@riipen.com), or via live chat on the platform. The Great Jobs KC team will then reach out to the team member and the employer, with the aim to re-engage the team member and to understand if there’s additional support we can provide.
Continued unresponsiveness or a lack of commitment is a breach of the program’s T&Cs. This may lead to a team member being removed from the project. If that happens, you should work with the employer to readjust the project deliverables and continue your 40 hour project.
