As part of the Advance Ontario program, participants must meet specific eligibility criteria. To ensure compliance and equitable disbursement of stipends, both students and employers are required to undergo identity verification.
Identify Verification for Students
Upon accepting the invitation to join Advance Ontario, you'll be directed to Persona, our third-party identification provider, to complete identity and enrollment verification. To complete this process, you'll need to:
Verify your identity with a selfie and a government-issued ID
Confirm your post-secondary enrolment status with a Proof of Enrolment letter from your post-secondary institution.
We recommend that you have these items available to you at sign-up so that you can enter the program as smoothly as possible.
If you've previously verified your identity for Advance Ontario, you'll need to do so again.
Identity Verification for Companies and Employers
Before matching with a student, employers must verify their business and individual identity. During sign-up, you'll be directed to Persona to complete the verification process, including:

Verify your Ontario Business registration including CRA or provincial business number
Confirm the registered address of your business
Complete a personal identification process with a selfie and government-issued ID
We recommend that you have these items available to you at sign-up so that you can enter the program as smoothly as possible.
If your business identity was verified in a previous cycle, you won't need to repeat the process.
