Student instructions on how to apply for an Advance Ontario private institution cohort project.
Note: You must be invited into an Advance Ontario cohort to apply to projects. Applications for the private experience can only be accessed via an email from your institution inviting you to the cohort. If you have not received this email, you will be unable to apply to the private experience through your institution. Learn more here: Advance Ontario Student Application Process.
This article is for successful candidates who have received and accepted an invitation to join one of our Advance Ontario private institution cohorts. It also assumes that you have completed the steps outlined in 'Getting Started with Advance Ontario: Students.'
Students may apply to up to three projects at a time, meaning you can only have three active applications pending. The first employer to accept your application will determine the project you’ll work on for the remainder of the cohort. Be sure to apply only to projects you are genuinely interested in and confident you can complete, as once an employer accepts your application, you cannot switch. You are limited to completing one project per funding cycle. Learn more here.
Application Steps for Projects:
1. Log in to your Riipen account.
2. Access your dashboard by clicking on the "dashboard" option on the top left corner of the page. This option will be listed under "My Content" on the left hand side.
3. Under “My experiences”, click on the cohort that you are participating in.
4. Once you click on your cohort page, you can scroll down to view Advance Ontario projects. We recommend bookmarking this page so that it's easy to come back to later.
5. Before applying to a project, carefully review the project scope and deliverables to ensure they align with your interests and goals.
6. Once you’ve found a project that you would like to apply to, you will need to click on the “Apply” button on the top right corner of the page.
8. Next, you will need to fill out your application for the project that you are interested in.
9. You will first need to enter a Team name. We recommend using your first name. Advance Ontario projects are completed individually, so you will not be able to invite teammates.

11. Answer any screening questions provided and introduce yourself to the employer, focusing on why you are a good fit for the project and submit your application. Hit “Submit”. Learn more on how to stand out.
