Once a student (or team) has applied to and been chosen to work on an Advance Ontario project, the employer will need to accept their application through Riipen, which can be done from the requests tab.
This will automatically create a team page for the student(s) on Riipen. They will be able to access this from their dashboard. A student (or team leader if this is for a team) will need to click on the “Start Project” button when the project is ready to start.
Employers and students are encouraged to use the messaging function on Riipen to communicate throughout the project. If you would like to use any other communication tools, those should be shared in the conversation as soon as possible.
Once the 80-hour project has been completed, students will need to submit the final project through Riipen:
This submission must include three things:
1. a reflection note on your project work. How did it go? What did you learn?
2. upload your deliverables with original work. These need to reflect your 80 hours of work and must be in line with the project scope.
3. your 80 hours tracked in Riipen's worklog feature
Once the submission has been made, the student will be notified to complete an exit survey.
Advance Ontario operates on a 21 day payout period for students completing Advance Ontario projects. A stipend will begin to be processed when the employer provides feedback on a project submission and the student exit survey has been received.
Students: You can read about our payment process here.
Employers: You will be prompted to complete an exit survey, reflect on student's work, and provide feedback directly on Riipen. Our team needs to see the feedback on Riipen to expedite the processing of the stipend. You will be able to provide this on the student's team page on Riipen (right under their final submission). Kindly confirm completion and approval of the student (s) final deliverables.
If 14 days have elapsed and the employer has not provided feedback, the Advance Ontario team will reach out to the employer and if we do not hear back the advance Ontario team will review your final deliverable on behalf of the employer, which may cause your payment to be delayed.
