Riipen FuturePath Employer Participation Agreement

Updated over 2 months ago

Employers must read and adhere to these terms and conditions to participate in FuturePath. Riipen reserves the right to remove or suspend participants for violations.

This article is a general guide to the Riipen FuturePath program. Some terms may vary by cohort. You are required to read and sign the official Terms and Conditions provided for your specific cohort when you join the program.

1. Eligibility Requirements

To participate in FuturePath, I confirm that:

  • I represent a not-for-profit employer, public sector employer, or private sector employer.

  • My organization is a registered Canadian business, with a valid registered business number.

  • I am not a representative of a publicly funded post-secondary institution.

  • I am not a member of the House of Commons or the Senate,
an organization that engages in partisan political activities, and/or federal, provincial, territorial and municipal government.

  • My organisation and I will not claim any payment from students or receive any portion of the student stipend.

  • I will not create multiple active Riipen accounts or participate using more than two companies, each of which must undergo individual ID verification.

  • I will not collaborate with family members on FuturePath projects.

  • I will not work with current employees on FuturePath projects.

  • I will provide my credit card information upon matching my project and once I have accepted a student's application I will be responsible for my portion of the stipend.

2. Project Requirements

  • Students are compensated for their hourly work on a project, with a maximum of 300 hours total.

    • $23.34/hour will be paid for the allotment of hours of work, with a maximum of 300 hours.

    • After a student meets the minimum 4 hour requirement, their final compensation will be determined by the number of hours they work, outlined in their work log up to a maximum of 300 hours.

    • Any compensation provided to students is provided by Riipen and the employer, each paying half of each hour worked. This results in $11.67 per hour paid by the employer, and $11.67 per hour paid by Riipen.

  • Each company may participate in multiple cohorts.

  • As a condition of participation in this cohort, I understand that students will apply to the project and I am required to work with the students that I accept to my project.

  • I will clearly define the project scope and ensure it requires no more than 10-300 hours of work per student.

  • No fees will be charged to students, including training or application licences.

  • I agree to be available for discussions with the FuturePath coordinator to confirm project appropriateness.

  • Students must be accepted on the Riipen platform with their team matched to a project before starting a project. No retroactive recording of students or projects is allowed.

  • I will provide a minimum of 5 hours of mentorship per student, including regular check-ins.

  • Once a student is accepted into my project, no changes or accommodations will be made. I must complete the project as outlined with that student.

  • Upon project completion, I will complete the exit survey and submit feedback confirming the student's work and hours. If the work is incomplete, I will notify Riipen by submitting a Dispute Resolution ticket through the Avocado support feature in the bottom right corner of the Riipen website

3. Student Payment Eligibility

  • Payment is only available to students registered on the Riipen platform under Riipen FuturePath.

  • Students engaged in Riipen FuturePath projects are considered users of the Riipen platform, whose rights and entitlements are governed by the Riipen's Terms and Conditions, and in accordance with applicable Work Safe standards legislated by law.

  • Riipen, in tandem with you, the employer, reserves the right to determine student eligibility for payment. Only projects meeting all terms will qualify.

  • Payments will be made based on the students' worklog, which will be approved by the employer. If the employer does not approve the worklog within the 7 calendar day review period, Riipen reserves the right to review the worklog and any uploaded deliverables and process the payment on the employer's behalf.

  • Students are eligible for payments based on the number of hours that they work on the project. Partial payments will be provided should the student not complete the full project hours.

    • Students must complete a minimum of 4 hours in order to qualify for payment and cannot be paid for more than 300 hours.

4. Stipend Payments

  • Payment Information Collection
Employers agree to provide valid credit card information before projects will be matched to the experience. From September 2025, all credit cards provided will be run through an authorization process to confirm validity and require a minimum of $100 in available funds.

    • All payment details are securely collected and stored by Riipen’s third-party payment processor, Stripe, in accordance with PCI-compliant industry standards. Riipen does not store or have direct access to credit card information.

  • Security Deposit

Employers agree to pay a deposit against all student applications accepted to their project, before students commence work. The deposit amount per accepted student is 50% of the employer paid portion of the project total, or $750, whichever is lesser.

Deposits will be held until the project is completed and the final invoice has been paid, at which time the full deposit will be returned to the card.

If invoices are not approved and paid within 7 days, the deposit amount is non-refundable, students will be paid for the work completed and all further projects will be cancelled.

  • Authorization of Charges
By submitting payment details, employers authorize Riipen to charge the designated card for the authentication of the card, the deposit for each student they accept for their project and their agreed portion of the student stipend upon successful project completion and work log approval as defined in Riipen’s Terms of Service.

  • Work Log Submission & Approval
Students are required to submit work logs through the Riipen platform during the duration of the project. Employers must review and approve submitted logs within 7 days. If no action is taken, logs may be auto-approved to ensure stipend processing remains on schedule.

  • Stipend Payment Timing
Once all required work logs and any associated deliverables have been submitted and approved, by the employer Riipen will initiate stipend payment to the student. Employer contributions will be charged every 15 hours of work logged by the student, and after final work log and deliverables approval and prior to stipend disbursement to the student.

  • Dispute Process
Employers may dispute submitted work logs if there is a concern about accuracy or completion. Disputes must be submitted via the Riipen platform within 7 days of work log submission. Riipen will mediate disputes and reserves the right to make a final determination to ensure fairness for all parties.

  • We reserve the right to pause project work, learning experiences, or services, including temporary suspension of matched teams, if payment is delayed, declined, or otherwise cannot be processed. If payment remains unresolved for more than the given notice, we reserve the right to cancel associated teams and permanently remove access to the FuturePath program. Continued non-payment may result in additional actions, including ineligibility for future signature program participation.

5. Respectful Behaviour Agreement

I agree to:

  • Conduct myself with respect and professionalism at all times. This includes refraining from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, and abusive behaviour.

  • Understand that any violation of this agreement may result in immediate removal, suspension, or termination without notice.

  • Accept that Riipen’s determination of disrespectful conduct is final and binding.

  • Be solely responsible for my behaviour while using this service.
