Participation Overview
Learners must read and adhere to these agreements to participate in a Western Governors University School of Technology experience. In this section, “I” and “you” refers to the Learner.
1. Project Timeline & Cohort Dates
Projects must be completed within the allotted time period meeting the required hours (40-60) set by WGU in the Riipen platform.
2. Project Requirements
To receive the certification of completion and badge, I must:
Ensure I am officially registered and matched to the project on the Riipen platform before the start date.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Promptly accepting an invitation from Riipen to join the project.
Creating and setting up my Riipen account.
Completing any required pre-surveys.
Clicking the “Start Project” button on the project team page within the Riipen platform.
Sending a welcome message to the employer Sponsor, introducing myself and highlighting my skills
Maintain open communication with the project sponsor throughout the term of the project using the chat feature on the Riipen platform.
Complete required hours of work within the experience timeline.
Submit all required deliverables through the Riipen platform, including the final project submission, and a brief reflection on my experience.
Maintain confidentiality of all employer information pursuant to the Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement between participating students and sponsors.
Complete and submit all project surveys and milestones on the team page, including the project exit survey.
Failure to complete a milestone (e.g., starting the project, submitting surveys, or completing required milestones) within 5 days of the due date will result in your participation being marked as “Incomplete.” Failure to complete tasks within the first week will result in removal from the project.
Once marked as Incomplete, you will no longer be eligible to continue with the project.
Failure to complete the project in full may also result in disqualification from participating in future projects through this program.
Except when WGU and/or Riipen determine to revoke approval for a Sponsor project, project switching is not permitted once matched. Learners are expected to carefully review the project requirements in advance and ensure the opportunity aligns with their interests and skillset prior to selecting or accepting a project.
3. Respectful Behavior Agreement
I agree to:
Conduct myself with respect and professionalism at all times.
Refrain from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or abusive behavior.
Adhere to WGU’s Code of Conduct.
Understand that violations of the Student Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action by the WGU Student Conduct Board.
Understand that violations may lead to immediate removal, suspension, or termination without notice.
Accept WGU’s decision as final regarding the termination of my participation due to a violation of this agreement. Separately, accept Sponsor’s determination of termination as final.
Accept full responsibility of my conduct while using this platform
