Advance Ontario Student Participation Agreement

I am registered as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution in Ontario and will maintain this status throughout my participation.

I am currently enrolled in at least one course this semester or will be in the next semester.

I hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee protection, and am legally authorised to work in Canada.

OR

I am an international student and meet the eligibility to work off-campus without a work permit.

I will not create multiple active accounts, as this will result in program removal and loss of payment.

I will stay active in the program and understand that inactivity may lead to my removal.

I will only complete 1 project and participate in 1 cohort of Advance Ontario.

I am not an employee of Riipen Networks Inc. or the company facilitating my project.

I am not a current or former employee of the project company.

I have no conflict of interest with the project partner company (e.g., no relatives as major shareholders or board members).

I am not eligible for Employment Insurance at the end of the project or in the event of cancellation.

I am responsible for reporting any income earned under this program according to Canadian tax laws.

Projects must align with cohort schedules:

Being invited to the platform does not guarantee you a spot in the cohort. There are limited projects and lots of student interest, requiring proactive applying to projects to better ensure your project spot.

Projects must be completed within the 8-week cohort period, with a minimum of 2 weeks.

Students will complete 60 hours of work, with a maximum of 30 hours per week and no more than 10 hours per day.

All projects must be finished by the cohort’s end date; otherwise, students will not be eligible for payment.

Students may only participate in one cohort of Advance Ontario. Participation in multiple cohorts or projects is not permitted.

I understand that submitting an application does not guarantee placement in a project. Selection is based on project availability, funding and suitability as determined by the employer.

Ensure I am officially registered and matched to the project on the Riipen platform and press “Start” on or before the project start date. Failure to comply with the experience deadlines will result in the inability to participate or be compensated for my project.

Commit to working a minimum of 8 hours per week on my project, including meetings with my employer.

Complete 60 hours of the project work within the allocated timeframe and track my hours using Riipen’s work log feature. Please note that any work completed without the oversight or guidance of your project employer will not count toward the 60-hour requirement.

Not exceed 10 hours of project work per day or 30 hours per week.
​Working more than 60 hours will not be compensated, and partial payments are not available.

Submit all required deliverables through the Riipen platform, including:

Complete and submit the project exit survey.

Be in contact with the project employer throughout the duration of the project.
​If the employer becomes unresponsive, I will reach out to Riipen for support.

Provide any additional requested information within 30 days.
​Failure to do so will result in the project being deemed incomplete and ineligible for payment.

All questions about payment must be brought to Riipen and resolved within the funding period to remain eligible for payment.

Understand that only projects approved by Riipen and managed through the Riipen platform are eligible for payment.

Understand that once matched to a team, the match is final. No changes or accommodations will be made.

Be aware that payment for this cohort will be issued in accordance with the cohort breakdown.

I acknowledge that any misrepresentation of my identity or eligibility will result in immediate suspension from the platform and forfeiture of compensation for completed or in-progress projects.

If I receive a stipend payment I’m not entitled to, I understand I must reimburse the platform in full. This includes any overpayments or errors in calculation.

I further recognize that violation of these terms may result in legal action by Riipen.

Conduct myself with respect and professionalism at all times.

Refrain from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or abusive behaviour.

Understand that violations may lead to immediate removal, suspension, or termination without notice.

Accept Riipen’s decision as final regarding the termination of my participation due to a violation of this agreement.

Be solely responsible for my actions while using the service.
