Any invoice you have been a part of or payment you received or have attempted to receive, is available to you in your payments dashboard.
General
Invoice vs payment vs payout
Any time you complete work that satisfies the requirements of its experience, an invoice will be generated for you. This invoice represents the work that was completed either through work product submitted or work log entries, and the payment(s) that are now due to you.
A payment is the actual amount owed by a payer, such as a company or your portal, for the invoice and represents a transfer of money from a payer to your payment account which acts as a virtual holding account. These payments make up the total amount that was due on their associated invoice.
A payout represents a transfer of money from your payment account to your personal bank account.
Statuses and timing
An invoice, payment, and payout may each appear at different times:
Invoices are created when your completed work meets the payment rules for the experience your project is in. Check your project's page to view how and when invoices are created.
Payments are created at the same time as the invoice
Payments are processed once all payers of the invoice have approved the invoice or the expiry date for disputing an invoice has passed.
Riipen’s review can take up to 30 days from invoice creation.
Payments may fail if the payer's payment method has any issues in processing. If payments fail, they are automatically retried until they are successful. Failed payments are re-attempted daily or at the discretion of Riipen staff.- Payments are handled by Stripe and follow standard bank processing times, which may vary by institution.
Payouts are created when funds move from your Riipen payment account to your bank account. Payout can only be created once your payment account is fully setup and enabled.
Payments are handled by Stripe and follow standard bank processing times, which may vary by institution. It is important to understand Stripe and your bank’s processing times.
After your invoice is approved by Riipen, there is up to a 7 day waiting period. If this is your first payout from Stripe, it could be up to 14 days. This delay is necessary for risk mitigation and cannot be waived under any circumstances.
If you haven’t received your first payout after this period see Stripe’s help article Where is my payout? FAQ for missing or late payouts.
Bank processing fees may take an additional 1-5 business days to clear funds.
Invoice states
At any point, an invoice will have a state associated with it indicating it's current state and likely what actions will be taken next.
State | Meaning | Troubleshooting |
Blocked | The invoice has been created but you must complete additional steps before it can be reviewed by the applicable parties. | Your invoice is awaiting approval, and your banking information is missing or incorrect. Learn how to update your account information. |

Account balances
When you receive payments, you will see your account balances change as those payments flow from the payer to your bank account.
First, an accepted payment will go into your **Total balance** which acts as a temporary holding account. Funds are held in this account for 7 business days before they can continue to be processed.
After 7 business days, the money will move to your **Available to pay out** balance.
Next, every 24 hours, any money available in your **Available to pay out** balance will be transferred to your bank account. While in transit, this amount will be displayed in the **In transit to bank** balance.
Once money has landed in your bank account, you will no longer see it represented in your Account balances in your payments dashboard.
FAQs
Why is my invoice marked “Paid” if I haven’t received the money?
“Paid” means your invoice has been paid in full. It does not mean the money has arrived in your bank account. A payout is the transfer from your Riipen payment account to your bank account.
Your payment account must be fully set up and enabled before a payout can be sent. Funds must first become available for payout, and your bank may need additional time to process the transfer.
Your first payout may take longer. Stripe generally estimates 7–14 days after the first successful payment, though timing can vary.
Check your payment dashboard for the estimated arrival date. If your payout is overdue, see Stripe’s help with late or missing payouts.
Why hasn’t my payment been received?
Ensure all required documentation, such as worklogs, is complete and approved. Missing or incomplete entries can delay payment.
Can payments be expedited?
No. Riipen administrators review every submission and cannot prioritize individual submissions. This review process can take up to 30 days from invoice creation
Once payment is processed, Stripe and your bank handle the transfer. Riipen cannot shorten their processing times.
Why was an invoice created but I have not received a payout?
An invoice means your work is ready for review, not that money has been sent to your bank account. Riipen administrators review each submission to confirm it meets the experience requirements and demonstrates your individual contribution to the project. This review can take up to 30 days from invoice creation.
Check your invoice state to understand its current stage. If your invoice is disputed during review, payment may be delayed while the dispute is resolved. See the invoice dispute article for more information.
After approval, your payment still needs to be processed and transferred to your bank account. Your payment account must be fully set up and enabled to receive a payout.
To check the estimated arrival date for your payout:
Open your payment dashboard in Riipen.
Click “See details” under your account balances.
Look for the estimated arrival date, if available.
Why was my invoice cancelled?
Your invoice may be cancelled if you did not meet the experience requirements and are ineligible for payment.
An invoice is also automatically cancelled if your individual team membership was suspended for not meeting those requirements, even if the rest of your team completed the project and received their payout.
Why was an invoice created but I have not received a payout?
An invoice being created does not mean money has reached your bank account. Check the invoice state, the associated payment's states, whether your payment account is fully set up and enabled, and whether the funds are still in your payment account total balance, available balance, or in transit to your bank. To receive money to your bank account all of the following must be true:
1. Your payment account is fully setup and enabled
2. The invoice is in a state of paid
3. The associated payments are in a state of paid
4. The money in your payment account has been in your total balance for at least 7 business days
