Participation Overview

Employers must read and adhere to these agreements to participate in a Western Governors University (WGU) Certificate experience.

1. Project Timeline

  • Project timelines must align with the experience timeline set by the course, typically 4-8 weeks at approximately 10-20 hours per week.

  • I understand that I must define the project scope up front to the best of my ability and limit scope changes once students are assigned to the project.

  • I understand that students will complete the project independently and are not expected to exceed the 40–80 hour time range per student.

  • I understand that each student will have up to 8 weeks to complete their assigned project, starting from their individual start date.

2. Project Requirements

  • No fees will be charged to students, including for training, tools, or licenses.

  • I agree to be available for discussions with the WGU administrator to confirm the appropriateness of my project.

  • I will be available for a project kick-off and will use the platform’s chat feature to support students with ongoing communication and feedback.

  • I understand that up to five students may self-assign to my project, each producing their own version of the same deliverable on their own timeline, providing multiple perspectives and solutions for my business.

  • I am responsible for providing timely responses to students, mentorship throughout the project, and access to any materials or tools necessary for completion.

  • I will evaluate each student’s final submission within 5 business days of completion, offering written feedback to support their professional development.

  • I understand that completing the program exit survey and approving final deliverables are required. Failure to complete these may result in loss of access to future projects.

3. Respectful Behaviour Agreement

I agree to:

  • Conduct myself respectfully and professionally, refraining from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or abusive behavior.

  • Understand that violations of this agreement may result in immediate removal, suspension, or termination without notice.

  • Accept that Riipen’s decision regarding inappropriate conduct is final.

  • Be solely responsible for my behavior while using this service.
