Riipen Labs Student Participation Agreement

I am currently enrolled at an eligible Canadian post-secondary institution or approved institution and will maintain this status throughout my participation.

I am enrolled in at least one course during the current or upcoming academic term.

I am a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person, and legally authorized to work in Canada.

I will be located in Canada for the duration of the project.

I am not an international student.

I will maintain only one Riipen account.

I will participate using the email I provided in my Riipen Labs application, with an understanding that providing a different email address than the one affiliated with my Riipen account may result in not receiving an invitation to participate in the cohort.

I will participate in a maximum of one Riipen Labs project per funding period (May 2026 to April 2027).

I will not attempt to bypass program limits through duplicate accounts or alternate identities.

I will remain active and responsive throughout the program.

I understand that inactivity, missed milestones, or lack of engagement will result in removal from the project and loss of payment.

I understand that failure to comply with any program requirements will result in removal from the program and forfeiture of compensation.

I am not an employee of Riipen Networks Inc.

I am not an employee, contractor, or affiliate of the project company.

I do not have a conflict of interest with the project partner (including personal, financial, or professional relationships).

I am not eligible for Employment Insurance as a result of this experience.

I am responsible for reporting any income earned through this program in accordance with Canadian tax laws.

Selection of applicants is determined by Riipen based on availability, funding, and suitability.

I will be placed into a project, and once I am assigned to a project, no changes to team placement will be made.

All project milestones and deadlines are fixed and communicated at the start of the cohort.

Milestones are mandatory checkpoints required to progress through the project.

All Milestones are to be completed as per the Eastern-Standard Timezone (EST). Failure to complete Milestones due to timezone confusion will not be tolerated.

Failure to complete any milestone by its deadline will result in the project being marked incomplete and ineligible for payment.

Extensions are not permitted under any circumstances.

Complete identity verification within the designated verification period.

Be officially matched to a project and press “Start” on or before the project start date.

Follow all milestone timelines and requirements throughout the project.

Actively contribute to a team-based project and collaborate with assigned teammates.

Maintain regular communication with team members and contribute fairly to shared deliverables.

Understand that this is a group experience and that individual completion without team participation is not permitted.

Notify Riipen immediately if team members become unresponsive. Delays in reporting may impact project completion eligibility.

Understand that, outside of the scheduled kickoff call and Q&A calls, communication with the employer is not permitted unless explicitly directed by Riipen.

Complete a total of 30 hours of project work within the allocated timeframe.

Complete a maximum of 10 hours per week.

Accurately log all hours using the Riipen work log feature.

Understand that:

Once matched to a team and project, the match is final.

Changes, transfers, or accommodations are not permitted.

Completion of Milestones more than 2 days prior to the due date will result in removal from the project, as this project has been paced in a specific manner.

Submit all required deliverables through the Riipen platform, including:

Provide any additional requested information within 10 days of request. Failure to do so will result in the project being deemed incomplete and ineligible for payment.

Payment is only issued for projects that are:

All payment-related questions must be raised and resolved within the funding period.

Payment will be issued according to the cohort schedule. Note that payments may be delayed or withheld if project requirements, instructions, or milestone deadlines are not met.

Creating multiple accounts or misrepresenting identity or eligibility.

Participating in more than one Riipen Labs project per funding cycle.

Completing work outside of the Riipen platform or outside the defined project structure.

Failing to complete required milestones, surveys, or deliverables by their set timeline.

Logging hours that were not worked or not contributed to the team effort.

Falsifying submissions, deliverables, or participation.

Submitting placeholder or incomplete work to meet milestones or deadlines. All submissions must represent genuine effort and completed work.

Not contributing to team deliverables or relying on others to complete assigned work.

Contacting the employer outside of permitted interactions.

Engaging in harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or abusive behaviour on third-party platforms (e.g., Discord) used to support the Labs experience

Engaging in plagiarism, unauthorized use of AI-generated or AI-assisted content, or any other misrepresentation of source of work.

Accepting or requesting compensation outside of the program.

Any misrepresentation of identity, eligibility, or participation will result in immediate removal and forfeiture of compensation.

If I receive payment I am not entitled to, I agree to repay the full amount upon request.

Riipen reserves the right to pursue recovery of funds and take further action where necessary.

Conduct myself with professionalism, respect, and integrity at all times.

Refrain from harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or abusive behaviour.

Engage constructively with teammates and Riipen staff.

Understand that violations may result in immediate removal without notice.

Acknowledge that Riipen’s determination of misconduct is final.

I understand that all milestone deadlines are fixed and extensions are not permitted.

I understand that I must complete all 30 hours and all milestones to be eligible for payment.

I understand that partial completion will not be compensated.

I understand that I may only participate in one Riipen Labs project per funding term (May 2026-April 2027).

I understand that this is a team-based project and active participation is required.

I understand that all work and deliverables must be completed on the Riipen platform.

I understand that failure to complete surveys, milestones, or required documentation will result in loss of payment.

I understand that once matched, my team and project cannot be changed or reassigned.

I understand that communication with the employer is restricted outside of defined interactions.

Riipen may collect, store, and use my personal and participation-related information for the purposes of program administration, eligibility verification, reporting, and evaluation.

This information may include, but is not limited to, my name, contact information, educational or organizational details, project participation data, and survey responses.

Riipen may share relevant information with its funding partner, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), to meet program reporting, auditing, and compliance requirements.

My information may be used in aggregated and anonymized formats for internal analysis, impact measurement, and reporting purposes.

Riipen will handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.

I have read and understood all requirements, expectations, and deadlines outlined in this agreement.

I understand that this is a funded program with strict timelines and milestone requirements.

I accept full responsibility for managing my time, contributing to my team, and completing all required work.

I understand that failure to meet any requirement will result in my project being deemed incomplete and ineligible for payment.

I understand that no exceptions or accommodations will be granted beyond what is explicitly stated.

I understand that Riipen reserves the right to enforce all terms of this agreement at its sole discretion.
