Riipen Labs Payments

Riipen Labs students that successfully complete their 30 hour projects are eligible for a payment of $600. Riipen will release the funds, which will be deposited directly into your bank account.

Payment FAQs

What do I need to complete to be eligible for payment?

To be eligible for payment, you must successfully complete all program requirements, including:

  • Upload your Customer Experience Optimization Report to your Final Submission page.

  • Complete and submit your Personal Project Reflection in Milestone 10.

  • Complete your AI Interview in Milestone 11.

  • Complete all required surveys throughout the program.

  • Complete all milestones throughout the program

  • Log 30 hours of project work.

  • Ensure your worklog entries meet our expectations for quality and detail, as outlined in our guide to Submitting Quality Worklogs.

Please note that completing the 30 hours alone is not sufficient. All of the requirements listed above must be completed to be eligible for payment.

What do I need to submit at the end of my project?

1. Final Submission

Upload your Customer Experience Optimization Report to your Final Submission page. PDF format is preferred.

  • The report will be the same for all members of your team.

Each team member must upload their own copy of the report to their Final Submission page.

2. Personal Reflection (Milestone 10)

Your individual reflection must be written in the text field in:

Milestone 10: Complete Your Personal Project Reflection

Reflections should explore what you accomplished, challenges you overcome, what you learned, and your experience working on the project. Reflections should be 300-500 words in length, and written in complete sentences.

3. AI Interview (Milestone 11)

Complete your AI interview through:

Milestone 11: Complete Your AI Interview

  • Use the HeyMilo interview link embedded within the milestone.

  • You do not need to upload any interview results or screenshots.

  • The milestone will automatically be marked as complete once you have finished the interview.

Where is my payment? I finished the project and don't see an invoice.

If you have completed your project and do not see an invoice, your submission is still under review.

The Riipen Labs team will review your final submission to ensure it meets the project requirements. We will also verify that you have successfully completed all other program requirements, including:

  • Your final project submission

  • Your individual reflection

  • Your AI interview

  • All required milestones

  • All required surveys

  • Your worklog

Once this review is complete and all requirements have been verified, the team will generate your invoice and payment will be processed.

How long does it take to receive payment after my invoice is approved?

After invoice approval, it can still take up to approximately 7 business days for funds to arrive in your bank account, depending on your financial institution.

You can track your payment status in your Riipen dashboard.

I received an email saying that my work log/submission is not sufficient. What does this mean & how do I fix it?

If you received an email indicating that your work log or final submission is not sufficient, this means that additional revisions, or improvements are required before your project can be approved.

Common reasons include:

  • Worklog entries that lack sufficient detail about the work completed

  • Worklog entries that do not align with the expectations outlined in the guide to Submitting Quality Worklogs

  • A final submission that does not meet the project expectations

  • A reflection that does not meet the project expectations

To resolve the issue:

  1. Carefully review the email.

  2. Make any required updates to your worklogs and/or final submission.

  3. Resubmit the requested materials by following the instructions in the email.

If you need clarification, please reply to the email or contact the Riipen Labs team for support via the avocado in platform.

I received an email saying that my account information is not complete and I can't be paid. What should I do?

You’ll need to update your payment account information to ensure your payments continue to be processed.

To complete this update, please follow the steps below:
1. Click on your user avatar in the top navigation bar and select “Payments”
2. Navigate to the “Account” tab
3. Click the blue “Update” button on the right-hand side of the page
(Note: You will see the message “Update your business information”—please go ahead and click 'Update'', as it applies to all users)
4. Follow the prompts on screen to finish setting up your payment account and/or provide any missing information

Please complete this as soon as possible to avoid any delays in processing your payment.

My invoice says it is paid, but the money isn't in my account. What should I do?

If you are expecting a payment and cannot locate it, please review it in Riipen by following these steps:

1. Click on your user avatar in the top navigation bar.

2. Select Payments.

3. Select Payouts.

4. Click on the payout you are looking for.

5. Select 'Can't find your payout? Click here for support.' This page contains additional information that can help you locate your payout.


On the next page, confirm that the information listed on screen matches the bank account information on your dashboard:

If the payment was sent to an old bank account, contact the Riipen team.

If the payment was sent to the correct bank account, wait 5 business days and then call your bank. If your bank cannot locate the payout request a written statement confirming that the funds haven't been received and then contact Stripe with this statement.

The written statement must be an official letter or statement from your bank confirming the funds were not credited to your account. This must include:
* Account number and routing number
* Account holder's name
* Payout details (amount and currency)
* Must be issued at least 5 business days after the payout's expected arrival date (if the payout is older than 30 days, the statement must be issued at least 14 business days after the payout's expected arrival date)
* Must be on bank letterhead or from an official bank communication channel (PDFs or official email threads are accepted)

I can't receive my Stripe verification code when logging in. What should I do?


If you aren't receiving your Stripe verification code, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Wait up to 10 minutes for the verification code to arrive, delivery times can vary.

  • Request a new code

  • Restart your phone to refresh network connectivity

  • On the 'We sent a text to your phone' panel where you'd enter the SMS verification code, select Sign in another way and follow the prompts.

If you're still stuck on the verification screen after trying the steps above, reach out to Stripe Support for further assistance.


Creating a payment account

Once your project application is accepted, a "Setup payment account" task will appear on your team page, prompting you to set up your bank account.

You will need the following information:

  • Bank account information

  • Your bank's branch address (you can google this)

  • Your SIN number

  • Government issued ID

Editing a payment account

If you ever need to change information associated with a payment account such as banking information, you can:

  1. Click your user avatar in the top navigation bar

  2. From the dropdown, choose “Payments”

  3. Navigate to the “Account” tab

  4. Click the pencil icon on the far right side of the screen

  5. You’ll be redirected to sign in to Stripe to see your account details

  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your updates

Always ensure your payment account information is up to date as you will be unable to receive payments otherwise.

Viewing payments for a team

To view all payments for yourself for work completed as part of a particular team:

  1. Navigate to the project under My Projects in your dashboard or sidebar menu.

  2. Click on the "Invoices" tab

  3. Select any listed invoice

  4. You’ll see the details of your compensation for work completed within the team and the associated payments.

Viewing all payments

To view all payments for yourself:

  1. Click your user avatar in the top navigation bar.

  2. From the dropdown, choose “Payments”

  3. From the menu in your Payments dashboard, select "Payments".

Payment process

All payments for Riipen Labs will be processed per the cohort breakdown. Payment will be reviewed by the Riipen Labs team once final submission, reflection, all surveys and the interview has been completed.
