What is the EduNova Study and Stay™ Career Connect program?
This program connects employers with EduNova Study and Stay™ students to complete short-term, real-world business projects remotely through the Riipen platform.
About the students
International students currently enrolled in post-secondary institutions in Nova Scotia and participating in EduNova’s Study and Stay™ program
Motivated, professional, and ready to contribute to real organizational challenges
Diverse academic backgrounds with global perspectives and in-demand, labour-market–aligned skills
Project details:
30 hours per student, completed over up to 5 weeks
Project dates: April 6 – May 8, 2026
Individual or small-group projects (up to 2 students)
Fully remote, with employer guidance and mentorship
Types of projects:
Employers create their own unique projects to advance initiatives related to technology adoption, AI tools, digital transformation, health research, or other sector-specific challenges.
What is the time commitment for employers?
We aim to keep employer involvement efficient. Employers should plan for approximately 5 total hours over the project, which may include:
Providing initial project context and expectations
Responding to clarifying questions
Team meetings
Mid-project check-in
Reviewing milestones, final deliverables and providing feedback
Are there any costs associated with participating?
No. There is no cost to employers to participate in the EduNova Study and Stay™ Career Connect x Riipen program.
How are learners selected and matched to projects?
Students apply to the program through EduNova and, once accepted, administrators assign teams on the Riipen platform.
What support do learners receive?
Learners receive:
A clearly defined project scope and deliverables
Platform support from Riipen
Mentorship from their employer
Students are expected to work independently, but employers are encouraged to provide guidance and clarification when needed. Employers are also asked to submit feedback at the end of the project.
How many students will work on my project?
Employers may choose to work with either one or two students per project. This preference is indicated during the match request stage. If no selection is made, two students will be assigned by default.
Each student completes 30 hours of work. Employers have flexibility in how the project is structured. Students may work independently on separate tasks or collaborate together, depending on project needs.
What if the learner’s work doesn’t meet expectations?
These experiences are developmental. While students are expected to meet professional standards, deliverables may vary in polish. If concerns arise, the Riipen support team can assist in addressing issues or helping recalibrate expectations.
What if my project needs to change after posting?
The Riipen team can help adjust project scope before matching. Once a project is approved and students are matched, changes should be minimal to ensure a positive experience for all participants.
How is this different from a traditional internship?
These are short-term, project-based experiences, not employment relationships. Students work remotely, focus on specific deliverables, and do not perform ongoing operational tasks.
How do I get started?
Browse open cohorts and hit “request match” for the program you would like to match your project to.
