How to configure your experience timeline for employers and learners

Updated over a week ago

Determining a timeline for your experience is a crucial part of initial experience setup. This is where you will determine if all projects and learners will be following the same timeline including start date, end date, and milestones, or whether projects or even individual teams will run on their own timelines.

General

Dates controller

While configuring your experience, you will be able to set a timeline, or control who is able to set a timeline based on the following options:

  • Dates set by experience
If the dates are set by the experience, the experience administrator sets the start date, any milestones, and the end date. Every project matched with the experience, and every team on those projects is expected to complete their work against this timeline and with these milestones.

  • Dates set by projects
When a project has a match request with the experience, the employer is prompted to input their desired start and end dates and milestones. Every matched project under that experience may run on different dates, but the educator approves these in the match request process. All teams that are added to a particular matched project are expected to complete the project and its milestones on its timeline.

  • Dates set by teams
In this case, the experience and matched project both are dateless. Dates are set by individual teams as they either apply to the project or start the project. Each team will complete their project against these set dates.

Boundaries

If dates are set by project or by teams, experience administrators can still set boundaries with the following options:

  • Maximum start date - individual projects or teams must have their start date set no later than this date.

  • Maximum end date - individual projects or teams must have their end date set no later than this date.

Timeline changes

If dates are set by the experience, the experience administrators can change the timeline at any point.

If dates are set by the experience, dates cannot be changed once a match is made to the experience.

If dates are set by projects, either project or experience administrators can request that the timeline for a particular project be changed by initiating a date change request. These requests must be accepted by the other party for them to take affect.

If dates are set by teams, either the project administrators or team members can request that the timeline for a particular team be changed by initiating a date change request. These requests must be accepted by the other party for them to take affect.

How to

Set the initial timeline

As part of creating your initial experience, the "Timeline" step will ask you to fill in all details regarding the timeline of your experience.

Update the timeline

You can update the timeline to an experience by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the experience

  2. Click the "Settings" tab

  3. Click the "Timeline" tab under the "Project Management" group

  4. Update any of the timeline settings

  5. Click "Submit" to save your changes

You cannot change any timeline settings once a match has been made other than the experience close date.
