Setting up a learning tool interoperability (LTI) integration for your experience is a vital step for ensuring ease of learner on-boarding into it and activity and score pass back from Riipen to your LMS module.
General
Data
As part of configuring any LTI integration, Riipen will need access to the following data from the LMS:
First name
Last name
Email address
Versions
Riipen supports the following LTI versions:
LTI 1.1
LTI 1.2 *
LTI 1.3 *
LTI Advantage
LTI 2.0 *
* Support for this LTI version is documented through support of LTI 1.1.
Supported learning management systems
Current supported learning management systems are:
Blackboard
Brightspace
Canvas
Moodle
If your LMS is not listed here, contact Riipen for support.
Learner SSO
After you have configured a valid LTI integration from your LMS to your experience, learners in your LMS will be able to navigate from your LMS, usually in the form of an assignment or piece of content within a course, and will then be redirected to your experience on Riipen where they can take the needed actions.
The action above will
Automatically generate them an account on Riipen if they did not already have one or find their existing account
Log them in to Riipen
Add them as a learner to the experience so long as their role within the LMS is not "Instructor"
User accounts created by this method will initially only have access to Riipen via the LTI integration but can update their account to expand access.
This does not add the learner to any teams within the experience.
Educator SSO
After you have configured a valid LTI integration from your LMS to your experience, other educators inside of your LMS will be able to click a link from your LMS, usually in the form of an assignment or piece of content within a course, and will then be redirected to your experience on Riipen.
The action above will:
Automatically generate them an account on Riipen if they did not already have one or find their existing account
Log them in to Riipen
Add them as a member of the experience with the default "Guest" role, so long as their LMS role is "Instructor"
