Connecting Riipen with your LMS through LTI Advantage:
Makes it simple for learners to move seamlessly from a LMS course to the linked Riipen experience
Allows for automated scoring and grade synchronization across platforms
General
Roster Sync
Integrating with LTI Advantage allows you to to synchronize the roster from your LMS course into your Riipen experience easily. When you synchronize the roster:
Any users in a "Learner" or "Student" role that have added to your LMS course will be added to your Riipen experience as a learner
If a learner is in your Riipen experience but no longer in your LMS, that learner will be suspended from any teams they are in in your experience and be suspended from the experience as well.
Grade Book Sync
After integration with LTI Advantage, educators can optionally choose to synchronize their scoring systems in Riipen into the grade book in the LMS with the following options:
Team score (single column) - This will create a single column in your grade book which represents the total score for a learner within your experience. This is best for educators who want a clean, minimalist LMS gradebook while capturing all outcomes of scored items in Ripen.
Each scored entity (multiple columns) - This will create multiple columns in your grade book, one column for each scored entity / rubric in Riipen. This is best for educators who want to represent each acitivty learners are to undertake as its own grade book column in the LMS to show complete transparency of their tasks and associated grades.
With either of the above options, any time you make a change to the way scoring working in your Riipen experience, the affects will automatically be synchronized into your LMS. This includes:
Creating new scored items
Changing the rubric on a scored item
LTI Advantage integrations do not have the power to remove columns from your LMS grade book. If you remove a rubric or scored entity on Riipen you will need to manually remove any associated item from your grade book.
Grade books can also be manually setup to be integrated with Riipen through deep links (see below). This is a good option for educators who want full control of exactly what items are linked between the two systems.
Deep Links
Deep Linking is a method that allows for direct linking to items in your Riipen experience such as surveys, milestones, etc to a grade book column, or can be used to simply guide users to specific points within Riipen without impacting learners' grades.
Some educators prefer to use deep links over auto-generated grade book columns in order to have more control of how learners access content in Riipen. Deep links may also be useful if you prefer to stagger the visibility of assignments within your LMS.
Grade Sync
Educators have the opportunity to manage how grade book columns in the LMS are actually populated with grades.
Automatic - Educators can allow Riipen to automatically send data to the LMS each time a score is created in Riipen and is linked to a grade book column.
Manually from Riipen - Educators can manually click a button in Riipen which will then send all available scores to the LMS as appropriate.
Manually from the LMS - Educators can manually input grades in their LMS grade book at any time and prevent Riipen from sending any automated grades.
How to
Enable the LTI Advantage integration
These instructions are specific to the LMS you are using. See the specific how to section of the support LMS:
Synchronize rosters
Navigate to your experience.
Click the "Settings" tab.
Select the "Integrations" tab.
Select the "LTI Advantage" option under the data source section.
Click "Synchronize roster"
Synchronizing the roster happens in the background and may take a few minutes to complete.
Set up grade book synchronization
Navigate to your experience.
Click the "Settings" tab.
Select the "Scoring" tab.
Click "Edit" for the "Scoring settings" group
Make the appropriate selection for "LMS gradebook synchronization" *
Click "Save"

LTI Advantage does not automatically set grade book items such as assignments to be opened in a new tab, which is required for learners to navigate from the LMS grade book item into Riipen. After setting your grade book synchronization option:
Navigate to your course in your LMS
Iterate through the automatically created grade book entities and edit each item to enable "Load This Tool In A New Tab" *
* This exact setting varies between LMSs and you should check your specific LMS instructions on creating a deep link to know what value this is.
LTI integrations do not have the power to remove grade book columns from the LMS. If you change this setting after initial set up, you will need to manually remove any previously created grade book columns from your LMS which are no longer needed given your new configutation selection.
Set up automatic grade pass back
Navigate to your experience.
Click the "Settings" tab.
Select the "Scoring" tab.
Click "Edit" for the "Scoring settings" group
Enable "Passback score to integrated LMS assignment as grade"
Enable "Create LMS assignments for scored tasks"
Click "Save"
Manually pass back all grades
Navigate to your experience.
Click the "Settings" tab.
Select the "Scoring" tab.
Click "Sync grades to LMS"
This action happens in the background and may take a few minutes to complete.
Manually pass back grades for a specific rubric
This is only available when LMS grade book synchronization is configured to be for each scored entity.
Navigate to your experience.
Click the "Settings" tab.
Select the "Scoring" tab.
Select the scored item you would like to pass back grades for
Click "Sync" icon

Disable the LTI Advantage integration
Navigate to your experience.
Click the "Settings" tab.
Select the "Integrations" tab.
Click "LTI Advantage" in the "Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI)" group
Click on the "Delete" button to remove the integration.
